Caye Caulker is a naturally pristine island, with a population of approximately 1500 inhabitants.

Caye Caulker consciously and very carefully paces its growth. It offers visitors an excellent balance between development and amenities - in a peaceful, un-crowded, unpretentious, island environment.

It is not a resort island. Nor is it primarily a backpacker s haven, as previously dubbed. Today, it offers accommodations ranging from camping & European-style hostels, to up-scale, luxury suites all on an undiscriminating beach.

Walking in bare-feet is still the favoured mode of transportation on the island, as this provides a more intimate experience for visitors and locals alike. A number of bicycle and golf cart rentals are also available on the island, for those who prefer wheels.
